Digital Education for Senior Executives: Two Free Resources

Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 10:41AM Every week I speak to senior level executives who are looking to secure new challenging opportunities. The overwhelming majority of them are facing extraordinary challenges. They either can't secure interviews or if they do, they keep coming in second place. While there may be many reasons they don't succeed, I have witnessed one overriding commonality. The are not current and contemporary in today's digital marketplace.
Over 90% of all the executives I talk to don't even know what SEO is....yet, they will be required to implement it (or oversee implementation) within any savvy, progressive organization. While I help all of my clients learn what they need to know about this topic, I thought I would alert you to two resources that could be of immense benefit to you.
The first resource is an organization in the greater Sacramento area called Techcoire. Now I know that most of you cannot attend their events, but the message is that you should seek out similar organizations in your area that hold similar functions. The price is usually very nominal, the wealth of information is invaluable, and they are great places to network.
If you live in northern California, on May 27 they are holding a panel discussion on "Driving Product Innovation Through Open Platforms and Social Media" You should attend this event. This is not about Linkedin or being a social butterfly. It is about leveraging the power of the Net to drive the success of an organization....for free.
The second resource is a FREE e-book on SEO. "How to Create Compelling Content that Ranks Well in Search Engines" It is a great book and the price is right. :-) I cannot recommend strongly enough that you download it and read it. You need to continually stay up-to-date on current technologies. This will help.
I will be attending the event at Techcoire. Hope to see some of you there. Let me know if you will be attending and we can have a cup of coffee together.
